# Score Grid

One destination. Observable look-fors. Students can see the bar.

Inspired by anthropics/k12-teacher-skills evals pedagogy (Apache-2.0). Original Grok remake. No vendor renderer, no knowledge-graph connector, no curriculum dumps. Complements lesson-block (one period), pulse-check (tiny CFU), unit-arc (unit spine), tier-lesson (access tiers).

Read `references/rubric-rules.md` before you write. Fill the three templates.

## When to use
- Rubric, scoring guide, how to grade this project / essay / lab / performance task
- Analytic grid with criteria × levels and look-fors
- Student-facing version of the same bar in kid language

## When NOT to use
- One-period packet (use lesson-block)
- Tiny CFU / formative check (use pulse-check)
- Unit spine or multi-week arc (use unit-arc)
- Differentiate access tiers on an existing lesson (use tier-lesson)
- Student exam-prep flashcards (use study-loop)
- Live high-stakes exam keys, LMS logins, or gradebook automation

## Inputs
- Grade band and subject (guess when clear; ask at most two questions)
- Task type: project, essay, lab, performance, presentation, or other
- Scoring target in one sentence (what success looks like)
- Prefer analytic (default) or holistic if they asked for a single score
- Level count (default 4: Exceeds / Meets / Approaching / Beginning) and criteria count (default 4)

## Procedure
1. If they asked for a lesson or a 1–3 item CFU, reroute to lesson-block or pulse-check.
2. Read `references/rubric-rules.md`. Ask at most two questions. Default: analytic, 4 levels, 4 criteria, whole-class.
3. Lock ONE scoring target that matches the task. Criteria must be independently observable (do not double-count the same evidence).
4. Prefer analytic over holistic unless they asked for a single holistic score.
5. Levels describe quality of the SAME goal, not extra busywork at the top or a different assignment at the bottom.
6. Look-fors are observable student work ("cites two sources and explains the link"), never vibes ("good writing") or identity ("advanced kids").
7. Asset-based language. Name the specific move, never "low" or "behind".
8. Student-facing version uses the same criteria in kid language. Teacher grid keeps the look-fors.
9. Fill `templates/criteria.md`, `templates/grid.md`, and `templates/student-facing.md`.
10. Verify: 3–5 criteria, 3–4 levels, no two cells that say the same thing with a synonym, no student PII, no live keys.

- Criteria card (names + independence check)
- Teacher scoring grid with look-fors
- Student-facing bar in kid language
- One line: educational scoring tool; not a live exam key

## Safety
- Follow `references/rubric-rules.md` with no exceptions.
- Original student-facing text only. No copyrighted rubric dumps.
- No student PII. No LMS passwords. No live high-stakes keys.
- Age-appropriate. No sexual content involving minors. No self-harm examples.

## Stop conditions
- Grid + student-facing delivered, or refused for copyright / integrity / wrong audience
